For the Sauce:

  • Vegetable oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Butter – 2 tablespoons
  • Finely chopped onions – 2 nos
  • Minced garlic – 1 tablespoon
  • Finely chopped ginger – 1 tablespoon
  • Garam Masala – 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Tomato puree – 1 cup
  • Kashmiri chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt as necessary
  • Fresh cream – 1 cup
  • Brown sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Water as necessary
  • Finely chopped coriander – 2 tablespoons

How to make chicken tikka masala recipe Indian:

  • Take a bowl and add boneless & skinless chicken pieces.
  • Add finely chopped garlic, ginger, yoghurt, garam masala, turmeric powder, cumin powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder and salt.
  • Mix all the ingredients well using your hands for 10 mins and keep it aside for marinating at least for an hour or overnight.
  • Marinating overnight gives the tenderness to your chicken.
  • Heat oil in skillet or pot on high flame. Once hot enough, add chicken pieces in batches of two or more and fry until browned for 3 mins on each side and set it aside.
  • Melt the butter in the same pan.
  • Add onions and saute until they turn transparent.
  • Now add finely chopped ginger & garlic and saute it for a min. And add garam masala, cumin powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder.
  • Saute them for few seconds or until fragrant by stirring occasionally.
  • Pour in the tomato puree, chilli powder and salt. Let’s simmer and cook about 10 – 15 mins, and stirring occasionally until the gravy thickens and becomes a deep brown-red colour.
  • Stir in the fresh cream and sugar through the gravy and add the chicken back into the pan and cook for additional 8 – 10 mins until chicken is cooked through and the gravy is thick and bubbling.
